Therapy for Self-Esteem
Self-esteem is the ability to have feelings of self-worth and self-confidence. It is a core building block of well-being. Individual therapy for self-esteem problems involves expressing your difficult feelings and questioning the negative beliefs you have about yourself. These can be the result of things like perfectionism or bullying as well as negative experiences and input in childhood. These are not easy issues. As a therapist specializing in self-esteem problems, I want to provide the support you need to become more empowered and build a stronger sense of your self-worth.
Do you feel self-doubt? Does this get in your way at work or in social situations?
We all have ups and downs depending on challenges or positive experiences. Self-esteem is what helps you stay afloat, experience hope, and pursue your goals. Feelings of inadequacy, or constant ups and downs are painful and debilitating. It is important to figure out what makes you feel “less than.”
Do you have trouble with conflict, worry about rejection and find it hard to voice your needs? Do you have trouble leaving toxic relationships or work settings.
These can indicate that you have a negative view of yourself and do not believe your needs are legitimate or that you have experienced trauma. This makes it difficult to fully participate in the give and take of a relationship and build trust in another person. During therapy, we can explore how you see yourself and work to understand messages and experiences that have may have prevented or undermined your feeling of self-worth. This will help you build a more positive view of yourself and help you stand up for yourself without fear of rejection.
