Therapy for Eating Disorders
Are you struggling with an eating disorder or wondering if you have one?
Eating problems range from emotional eating to relieve stress to complex behavior patterns that directly threaten your physical and mental health. The most important thing you can do is to discuss the situation openly with a therapist for eating disorders. This can be a hard step to take, but you will benefit from a consultation to evaluate the problem and learn about options to consider. As an eating disorder specialist, I bring advanced training and years of experience to help you address these issues in an effective way.
Are you confused about your options for treatment and what step to take next?
Anorexia, bulimia and binge eating disorder are complex problems caused by biological, psychological and social factors that are self-reinforcing. There is a continuum of care available to treat eating disorders that includes individual, group and family therapy and inpatient and outpatient settings. There is no one right treatment or intervention; it is normal to utilize various treatments on your path to recovery. The most important thing is a complete assessment and recommendations as to what you need now, why you need it and how to access care. I provide diagnostic assessment, individual psychotherapy and outpatient treatment. I also provide care for clients following discharge from inpatient care.
Do you need help with establishing a healthy eating plan for a medical condition like diabetes or to meet your goal for a healthier lifestyle?
Often the hard part is making behavioral change, not simply finding new food choices. There are tips and tools that can help you be successful in this process. As a therapist for eating disorders, I can assist you with developing a plan and provide you with these tools so that you can make the lifestyle changes you envision.
