A Therapist for Grief and Loss
A Therapist for Grief and Loss
It is an honor to work with those who are grieving. Grief work is a profound journey. As a therapist providing therapy for grief and loss, I understand that those who are grieving require acknowledgement, empathy and support. When you are grieving, you must navigate deep, intense emotions. Grief is part of life, but your loss is unique and so is the course of mourning your loss.
Does your grief seem invisible to others? Do you feel you should hold back expressing your sadness and pain?
Most who are grieving feel at times that their grief is invisible to others. You long for support, and yet you question whether anyone can understand your pain. During a time of deep grieving, it is natural and necessary to withdraw from the day-to-day world, but in turn, you can become isolated. Family and friends are often not enough; or live at a distance. In therapy you can receive the care and time you need to fully mourn. Having a special time each week in therapy to voice your feelings and needs can be rejuvenating and help you find the energy you need to cope.
Do you feel stuck in your grief? Are you having persistent physical symptoms, anxious thoughts or numbness and feelings of emptiness? Do you feel depressed and unable to find meaning in life?
These are signs that your grief process has become disrupted or prolonged. It means that your grief has developed into a more difficult state that we call complicated grief. In this case, a therapist specializing in the treatment of grief is a crucial resource. Getting stuck is not unusual and is caused by various factors. We can work together to understand what is happening and how best to address it.
